  1. The NightLife theme kicks butt.

I’d like to see this theme in different colors too.

By Ahmed Bilal on March 19, 2007 12:00 pm

  2. I’m sure that’s doable at some point. I will have to ask Brian.

By David Krug on March 19, 2007 12:33 pm

  3. Nice theme. I second the request for more colors.

By Quick Online Tips on March 19, 2007 12:51 pm

  4. Nice!

With a little altering, this could be perfect for my wifes new blog! Looking forward to what you all have in store.

How about creating some big, bold, clean themes like SEO Book and Copy Blogger? I think such themes would go down a treat.

By Armen on March 19, 2007 2:30 pm

  5. Totally doable Ahmed. Just a matter of spending the time to tweak the CSS on the style sheet. Thanks for the great feedback!

By Brian Gardner on March 19, 2007 2:54 pm

  6. Great quality, although the colors are a little austere … if he could provide them in different colors. We can change them too of course.

Anyway, my biggest gripe as a publisher of several blogs it the 2 columns. For any real blogger that is going to stick around for a while and not just put something up for vanity and some friends only to abandon it a few months later, 2 columns are not enough. We need 3 columns to actually make money off the blog or use the many many plugins available for WP that make WP so great.

Please please consider making 3 column blogs and with the width of common websites of Yahoo, NYTimes, etc. Not these skinny hard to read 2 column blogs that every designer seems to think everybody wants.

Sorry if that sounds like a little bit of a rant.

  7. [...] Performancing has released a WordPress theme and while it doesn’t knock my socks off, I can see how this theme could be very popular, especially in multiple color sets. It is a two column theme currently set up with dark grays, black and white. It looks like Performancing is going to be continuing to develop this, and most likely other themes. [...]

  8. Header image looks awfully familiar: http://www.i-marco.nl/weblog/

Next to that it’s a little plain, extra color could make it alot better.

    By Chris R. on March 21, 2007 7:52 am

  9. Nightlife knocked my socks off. After looking about for a serious-minded Wordpress theme suitable for a business news site, I think Nightlife fills the bill.

A couple comments: I agree with the previous posters on changes worthy of your attention — possible NightLife 2.0.

Three-column version. A two-column version is fine for a personal blog, but the majority of serious blogging efforts (for example, Performancing, NYT, WSJ, etc.) offer full-screen multi-column layouts.

While the two column display may help focus attention on content, it limits SEO and advertising options. Also, as displays get wider (I’m viewing this on a 17-inch, 1200px-wide iMac), anything less than a fluid layout quickly approaches a postage stamp.

Color, while important, should be a secondary concern when updating NightLife. Congrats on the inaugural theme and I look forward to your future releases.

  11. Wow! What a great theme! I love the feel of it.

If this is what we can expect in the way of themes from Performancing I can’t wait to see more…

    Well done Brian. Great work.

By Peter Coughlin on March 21, 2007 5:56 pm

  12. Hmm… looks kinda familiar :/

I’ve been using that image on website for years and it’s on my virb profile as well. It’s kinda ‘known’. I got an email about it from someone after he saw this here.

It’s a free to use photo though so no real complaint from me other than thinking a more original photo would have been nicer… :P

By Marco on March 21, 2007 8:07 pm

  13. Looks really good, clean and effective! well-done! :)
Like Ahmed said, maybe to offer this theme with the options of changing the color scheme would be interesting also! (like a “nightlife option”)

    great job!

  16. Just a GREAT Theme. The best I’ve ever seen…

I have one Question: I want to have different header Images for different Sites. Since I am not so good in understanding CSS I friendly ask you how I can do this.

Have a look at my website and you’ll understand. On the main page there is actually a red image and I have some others (green, blue, yellow) which I want to use on the other sites (i.e. on Gaestebuch an the common Sites).

    Thanks and again: GREAT JOB!

  17. I love this theme and have used it for a new blog but would like to know if you can make it compatible the widget plugin so I can monetize the site?

By Jerry on April 16, 2007 11:22 am

  18. WOW .. excellent changes to Nightlife … this Modernpaper 3C wide theme looks great!! Where is the download??!!!

By Mr. Brightside on April 16, 2007 3:15 pm

  19. Patrick, you need to change the header.jpg in the theme folder that you add to your other site.

Jerry, the theme should be widget ready, so you should be good to go.

Brightside, the link is now live in the theme post!

  24. Why is it that with Firefox and Flock I can write a comment with a width wider than the comment box (here surprisingly I cant…)? Try it on my site. Or can I change some settings to avoid it?

By stefan on June 9, 2007 4:24 pm

  25. Sorry, I just tried it again, now it works fine.

  27. Love your theme. I’m using a (slightly) modified version of it for my weblog. It’s served my purpose well!

By Mitch on June 19, 2007 3:33 pm

  28. The design of this theme is perfect. Thank you for creating it! I notice that certain functions don’t work quite right. For example, when clicking on the “print this article” button beneath the post, it actually prints whatever is in the present browser (i.e. whatever’s on the homepage, rather than the article). Any fix for this? (I checked several sites and they all had the same issue. You can see it on Mitch’s site, above, for instance.) Thanks!

  30. My main concern is that you can’t guarantee every page of your website will be included in the SERPs. Considering I’m constantly adding new products to my company’s website, I need to be sure that customers can find them as soon as possible.http://www.seoptimizerz.com

  31. I am using the nightlife theme on my website. I do have a problem with some posts putting the first word of the paragraph up on very far right side of the same line as the Filed in category line. I do not know where it is getting that at. You van visit my site and look through a couple of posts on the main page. Where in the CSS file would this be instructing it to do that? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  38. Excellent theme - love the colours :)

I do have the same the same problems as Hayley has. When I use html in any text widget in the sidebar, I do get the annoying » charakters in every line, also tags like “justify” are ignored, you don’t get justified text in the sidebar, just “» texttext text”…

Anyway thanks for this theme and any help offered to solve the “»”-problem.

  39. If the first word of the post has two characters or less, that word is placed in the top right corner of the display box. A quick hack is to place two nbsp in the code view.

This will work until there is a fix.

  40. If you look in the style.css file, the width for the contenttitle is set to 500px. When I changed this to 520px, it did away with the problem stated above.

  42. Hello there, great theme, we love it! I actually replaced the header with a flash movie, but I’m noticing that there’s a big white rectangle underneath it. This only appears in IE both 6 and 7. I’ve tested in Firefox, and Opera for PC and Safari and Firefox for Mac and it looks great. Suggestions? Thanks in advance, and thanks again for a great theme!

    VERY nice job, guys!

  45. Hi there,

In regards to the problem with the contenttitle messing with the first two characters, isn’t it easier just to take the float off the title? Not too sure why it’s on there anyway.

    thanks!

  49. sorry mark, above fix did not work for my nightlife blog theme, other suggestions?

The only thing Ihave done so far is change the header pic and tried the changes you posted above, to no luck. I cleared the cache/data out to and still no refresh with problems gone.
